An Overnight Tan Routine That Survives the Morning

Tanning drops developing overnight while you sleep

The best time to build a tan is while you are not available to fuss over it. An overnight routine works because it borrows time you were already spending, but it only feels effortless if the morning goes to plan. Here is the whole routine, from the shower the night before to the shirt you put on after.

The evening: five minutes, most of them familiar

  • Shower and dry as normal. If you exfoliate, this is the night for it: colour develops most evenly on a fresh, smooth surface. Twice a week is plenty.
  • Count your drops into your usual moisturiser. Two or three for a subtle build, more once you know your shade. The counting logic lives in our drops shade guide.
  • Apply like it is moisturiser, because it is. Full coverage, blended at wrists, ankles and jawline. Go lighter over knees and elbows, which drink colour faster.
  • Wash your hands like you mean it. Palms, between fingers, around nails. This is the single most skipped step in self tanning and the most visible when skipped.
  • Give it a few minutes before bed. Let the moisturiser settle the way you would before dressing. Then sleep; the development happens overnight without your help.

The sheets question, answered honestly

Oleyra Tanning Drops carry a light caramel guide tint, which is what lets you see even coverage as you apply. Like any tinted product, a trace of it can rub onto fabric before it settles, so the standard self-tan habits apply: older or darker bedding on building nights, loose sleepwear, and the guide tint washes out of both skin and cotton. The developed tan underneath is not what transfers; the surface tint is, and only until it has settled in.

The morning: where the routine pays out

Shower as normal. Any guide tint rinses away, and what is left is the colour that developed in your skin overnight. There is no waiting damp in a towel, no avoiding rain, no rescheduling the gym: the development window happened while you slept, which is the entire point of doing this overnight.

Judge your colour in daylight, not bathroom light. If you want another step, tonight is another two or three drops. If you are at your shade, tonight is just moisturiser, and the routine collapses back to the one you already had.

The weekly shape

Two or three building nights in a row, then one or two holding nights a week. That rhythm keeps the colour level with no visible fade-and-rebuild cycle, and it survives real life: miss a night and nothing dramatic happens, because the tan was built in small layers to begin with.

If you want to see what the morning after actually looks like, our real results page is exactly that. And the drops themselves come with a 60 day money-back guarantee, which covers a lot of mornings.
